i do realize its been over a year since i posted in this...you wanna know the sad reason why? xanga doesn't have an iphone app. you hear that xanga?!?! step your game up. well anyway, i've moved onto a new more "professional" blog/online portfolio to chronicle my art:
in the works....i'm working on my first actual "film" film...storyline and script is finished...i just gotta finish working on and collecting the props, then shoot and edit....i also have other films in pre-production too...should be interesting. here's a teaser trailer:
also, dance-wise...i started rhythm tapdance. i'm still having a hard time grasping the fundamentals because of the way my body is already adapted to bboying. the weight shifting and muscle movements are waaay different...so when it comes to traditional tap...i suck. BUT, i'm currently also working on creating my own version of tap....its only been 2 weeks since i started learning, but the feedback is very very positive. it's a mix between pretty much all the dances i've ever learned...i'm very excited to wear this is leading. it's not gonna be a tapdancer doing a windmill, that's been done before...what i have is unique and in a year or two will probably have its own following. you can quote me on that. i won't be videotaping the new style though, due to youtube's enormous amount of biters aka "tribute dancers"....but here's a short clip to document my progress...5 days after i officially started haha:
i'm currently working on a legitimate short film...it'll still be comedic, but not really random bullshitting like the other ones...
oh, and today is my official first day of tap dancing.
i've been getting real sick of the local bboy scene lately. if you've followed me from 2003 and on...you'd have noticed i am constantly evolving and not just sticking to one thing...the scene down here is stuck in the 70s. you can only dance to the music of the 70s, dance like the dancers of the 70s, and be like how it was in the 70s. i'd like to say the fundamentalism borders ignorance...but that's an understatement. i still love the dance, and will never stop breaking...but here's the thing. I WANT TO DANCE. if i want to add moves that have been invented in another danceform in the 1990s...then i will....because i just want to dance. i don't care about performances, battles, cyphers, or whatever. it defeats the purpose of confining a freestyle dance to a set of rules you must follow...not so free anymore, is it? so what if i wanna go on so you think you can dance....I WANT TO DANCE. what sickens me is that so many people in the scene want to educate the world on what their dance is really about...but when it comes to becoming educated about other dances, they act like other dance forms are not as legitimate as breaking...the ignorance i've encountered from doing other non-bboy or "hip hop" related [locking and popping] dances is just depressing.
i just made my own green screen....i didn't realize how easy it is. i'm not gonna make a video tutorial because i doubt any of my friends could use this knowledge. however, if any of you out there wanna learn just message me. all you need is minimum 2 light sources, neon green poster board [i'd say at least 4 if you wanna do "video blog" camera angles...you need more for full body], and double sided tape/thumb tacks. well this is the test:
notes of things i noticed: -the white line on the top and the green line on the right....my bad...i recorded the background incorrectly. -if you want a PROFESSIONAL green screen, don't use my method...the posterboard reflects green onto my back hence the aura that surrounds me -maybe add another lightsource for my back to eliminate the "aura"?
if you have red-blue 3D glasses...take a look at this: it's something i'm still learning and experimenting with...but this shot turned out verrrry nice.
